Here are some important points customers should know:
Included Security Compute Units (SCU)
Microsoft 365 E5 customers will receive:
- 400 Security Compute Units (SCU) for every 1,000 M365 E5 licenses
- Maximum monthly allocation up to 10,000 SCU
Availability
- M365 E5 customers are expected to have this benefit enabled by June 2026 π
SCU Calculation
- Microsoft has not yet published a public calculation model for SCU consumption.
Overage Usage
- Overage SCU usage is currently disabled for SCUs allocated through M365 E5 licensing.
Pay-As-You-Go Pricing
- Additional SCUs can be purchased through Pay-As-You-Go at $6 USD per SCU
Non-M365 E5 Customers
- Organizations without M365 E5 licensing can still purchase Microsoft Security Copilot separately.

Within the Security Copilot portal:
- Owner

By default, Global Admins and some privileged roles receive access. Other users can be assigned Contributor access based on business requirements.
